RIGHT NOW, chemicals are being sprayed on the roadsides, and soon the beaches, of Island County.
Why is this a problem?
They stay in our sole source aquifer for 30 years and affect everyone's health for generations. Here are some of the known manifestations of this problem*:
Cancer: Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, prostate cancer, testicular cancer etc. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and violence in children Miscarriages and congenital anomalies & defects resulting in still born births Parkinson's disease Multiple Sclerosis Elimination of sperm counts in multiple species (sterilization) Sexual dysfunction
YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.
Immediately you can put NO SPRAY signs up in front of your property. Island County distributes these signs, available from the Island County Public Works road shops. For information on the road shop closest to you, call Island County Public Works Office at (360) 679-7331.
You can sign our petition. Stop by the Farmer's Market, Living Green, and other participating locations OR you can download our Action Pack now and start gathering signatures among your family, friends, neighbors and associates.
Contact your Island County Commissioners at (360) 679-7354 or via email.
