Sherlock
In contrast to Doc, who had always been an old soul, Sherlock will be a goofy puppy no matter what his age may be. One of the happiest dogs we've ever known, his tail is perpetually wagging. Whenever we hear “thump-thump-thump” coming from somewhere in the house, we know it's Sherlock lying somewhere on the floor just wagging his tail for no reason – hence the nickname “Thumper Boy”.
Sherlock was 2 years old when he came to us as a rescue from a family who realized that he needed more exercise than they could give him. They did the right thing; this picture shows him wearing Muttlucks after his first week with us at the Farm, because the pads on his feet were raw and sore from running around non-stop.
The only time he gets serious is when he's on the hunt for rabbits and his nose takes over. He has a lot more hunting instinct than Doc had, but for a bird dog, he's less interested in birds and more interested in rabbits and squirrels; he spends much of his day patrolling the Farm looking for critters to chase.
